Huffyuv

Increasing encoding speed (requires: huffyuv and lots of HD space)

It helps a lot when many filters are used and needs at least 6MB per second (6.5GB for 25min) but it varies very much depending on the video. Needs to be done before the step Divx 5 settings. Another important thing to remember is that FAT32 partitions only can handle files up to 4GB which that you'll end up with a corrupt file unless you select 'file\save as segmented avi' or upgrade to NTFS.
  1. Open the avs file in virtual dub.
  2. Set video to fast recompress.
  3. Instead of selecting divx5 as the compression codec select huffyuv.
  4. Apply the settings on the picture above (increasing the compression will only further reduce the filesize by about 20% and is much slower.)
  5. File\Save as avi as usual.
  6. Open the file compressed with huffyuv instead of the avs in Virtual Dub.
Note: Producing the huffyuv avi will be slow, but encoding the avi produced by huffyuv will be faster in the end if you do many passes.
-Return to the divx settings or the index.
